Folks, we have all had those icons on TV that we were smitten with. It’s often a good idea to avoid ever meeting them, because they can’t always live up to the special being that we EXPECT them to be. Not in Julie’s case. Downtown is the most vibrant, spirited beautiful soul there is! SO fun!!!

Janna is one of those wonderful humans that’s spent serious time exploring one’s individuality, seeking to discover the identity of “who we are” versus “what we do”. Her book “Me, My Selfie & Eye: A Midlife Conversation About Lost Identity, Grief & Seeing Who You Are” paints that exploration perfectly, and her new podcast series (Eyedentity Talk) “offers meaningful support and insight for anyone in the throes of midlife identity loss and confusion.”

A self-identified “Heart seeker, word builder, practical dreamer, tequila sipper, photo taker, perpetual learner, thought conveyer, star gazer, aurora chaser, cynical optimist”, Janna goes deep, and I look forward to chatting about that depth, vulnerability and self-discovery.

Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2001 after a 3 year tenure with the Goo Goo Dolls on their famed Dizzy up the Girl world tour, Dave Schulz began immersing himself into many diverse musical circles. He hosted all-star jams at numerous clubs (starting with Ian Copeland’s Backstage Cafe), which led to various residencies for 15 straight years at top venues in LA. He soon became one of the city’s most in demand behind the scenes forces, adding constantly to a mile long touring, performing and recording resume of artists from across the musical spectrum: Angelo Moore (Fishbone), B-52’s, Berlin, Bernard Fowler, Bo Diddley, Bonnie Pointer, Chambers Brothers, Cherie Currie, Daniel Lanois, English Beat, Eric Sardinas, Esthero, Fastball, Fuel, Gary Oldman, General Public, Glenn Hughes, Goo Goo Dolls, Ian Gillan, John Blackwell, Kristine W., Lyndsey Buckingham, Maceo Parker, Macy Gray, Mike Porcaro, Mitch Perry, Nik West, Nikka Costa, Rick Springfield, Rusty Young, Ryan Cabrera, Sleepy Brown (Outkast), Steve Porcaro, Steven Bauer, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Dayne, The Rembrandts, Tony Levin, Wang Chung, Warrant, When In Rome, and XYZ, to name a few.

Buckle up, people… this is one wicked drummer! Nate is atop my list of favorite humans. His band mate and music director Paul Mirkovich on NBC’s “The Voice” says “…what you want is for every song to feel like the most important song in the world.” That’s EXACTLY how Nate approaches every song he plays. You’ll feel like you want to be his best friend the first time you see him play, the joy he expresses behind the kit is so infectious. I can freely admit that Nate has made my world a much better place with him in my life. Hang out with us and find out why.

Watch this beforehand – you’ll know what I’m talkin’ about! https://youtu.be/hisBS9Pzgj8

You may know Liv from Prince’s New Power Generation, or maybe even from Road Case Royale with Nancy Wilson, but the fortunate locals of Portland got to witness and experience the emergence of one of the most powerful performers I’ve ever seen. There’s a reason Liv is sought after by the best in the biz: her songwriting is alluring and diverse – you’ll get sultry R&B and soul in one track, and blistering funky horn- & guitar-driven rock the next. Tune in right on my page at 3pm Pacific on Thursday to fall in love all over again!

“If you need a friend, don’t look to a stranger

You know in the end, I’ll always be there

But when you’re in doubt, and when you’re in danger

Take a look all around, and I’ll be there…”

One of the most revered songs from the 80s, The Promise kept young lovers’ dates memorable, and propelled When in Rome to heights rarely achieved by any band. Clive, Andrew and I have crazy road stories from around the world, and you’ll get to peek in at a few of ’em!

The man behind SO MUCH of the music, you’ll get to know the magic behind one of rock’s most-loved voices. Bozyk came to the NW radio scene as a revered rock DJ, still casting his show across the country on syndicated radio stations. What most locals don’t know is how involved Dan’s been in all aspects of promotion, production and presentation of music in the region. On top of that, DB’s got a zest for adventure & the community. We love him for ALL of these qualities, even if he’s a Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic. Come make a best new friend!

Also featured in this episode, Jason Fellman (Bozyk’s partner in entertainment delivery) hopped in and discussed great opportunities for people to voice support to help music, venues and the community:

Independent Venue Coalition (IVC) – https://www.voicevenues.com/ (saving music venues)

Music Portland – https://musicportland.org (helping all aspects of music scene)

MOTORIN’!!!! Yessireee, I’ll be catching up with Kelly in quarantine, talking newfound married life with the beautiful Jenn Attar Keagy, what Kelly’s doing to stay sane while Night Ranger waits out the pandemic, and how it feels to have everyone on the planet knowing your hit songs. I love this man dearly, and if you don’t know him yet, you’ll love his heart as much as you’ve loved his voice. You can still rock in America (just have to stand 6 feet apart)!
